Shop Britto Opens at MIA

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
The artwork of Romero Britto, world-renowned artist who has exhibited at the Louvre and recently painted a Bentley for Bentley Motors, is now available to travelers passing through Miami International Airport, one of the world’s busiest airports, at Shop Britto® in the North Terminal near Gate D-32.

The Brazilian native has an exclusive partnership with NewsLink, operator of newsstands, gift shops and cafés at MIA and other U.S. airports. The new retail store at Miami International features prints, souvenirs, casual clothes and other collectibles featuring Britto’s artistic creations at popular prices.
“I’m honored to share my art with the millions of people who come and go through this hemispheric hub,” said Britto.  “It’s a great opportunity to show off Miami’s art scene to world travelers.”

NewsLink selected Romero because his appeal and energy are global, according to Raymond Kayal, Jr., president and CEO. “He has a unique ability to ignite interest in the arts on a global scale and at the same time represent Miami’s exciting culture. It’s a terrific combination,” said Kayal. Britto’s work, defined by pulsating colors, optimistic themes and commanding compositions, can be seen in galleries and museums on five continents.  He has done portraits for many celebrities including Michael Jackson, Dustin Hoffman, Roger Federer, Gloria Estefan, Andre Agassi, David Rockefeller and the late Senator Ted Kennedy.

Britto is routinely commissioned by major corporations for large-scale murals, sculptures and product logos around the world.  Recent corporate requests have come from Disney, Evian, Pepsi-Cola, Volvo, Unilever, Royal Caribbean and BMW. Britto annually attends the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.  He has appeared on NBC’s “The Apprentice” and ABC’s “Extreme Makeover.”  NewsLink was recently named the “Best News & Gift Operator – Small Retailer” by Airport Revenue News, the leading trade publication in the airport revenue industry. The Miami-based company has more than 500 employees and provides retail, and food and beverage services at Miami International, Boston Logan, Newark Liberty, John F. Kennedy and Cleveland Hopkins airports.
